Cindy Sherman, self-portrait for Vogue, 2007
Here’s a new twist: a self-portrait by Cindy Sherman. You might think that’s nothing new, she’s been doing it for forty years. But no, none of her photographs have been true self-portraits, she has always been in disguise and in character. (If you want to see the real Cindy, click here to see my post on photographers portraits of her over the years.)
Here we have her posing in her studio amongst the equipment. That head on the end of a stand helps her with focus and lighting since she can’t be in two places at one time.
She’s may be in costume but that’s the real Cindy Sherman looking back from a Cindy Sherman photograph.
